Halal Slaughter Person

A vacancy has arisen for a Halal Slaughter Person. The main function of the role is to slaughter animals in accordance with religious law, and determine that carcasses meet specified religious, hygiene and food safety standards.

Main Duties

• Whilst making cut, bless the animal by saying Bismillah (in the name of God) from the Koran. This can be done silently or said aloud.
• Identify overage animals and highlight to Manager/Supervisor.
• Maintaining high levels of humanity and always working in compliance with Animal Welfare standards.
• Operating within the conditions of your slaughter licence.
• Cleaning of work equipment after each session and undertake thorough cleaning at the end of each day.
• Maintaining work equipment in good working order, including keeping knives sharp.
• Maintaining hygienic conditions by working within FSA standards.
