Lairage Operative

The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and storing cattle and sheep in accordance with animal welfare best practice guidelines.

The Role

• Unloading and transferring animals to holding pens prior to slaughter;
• Reading ear tags and allocating kill numbers;
• Checking permits and carrying out FCI and transport audits;
• Ensuring permits and information is put on to the system correctly;
• Assist with the daily cleaning schedule in Lairage;
• Maintaining Health, Safety and Hygiene Standards in accordance with company rules and regulations.

The Person

• Possess GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent);
• Previous experience in cattle and sheep handling is essential;
• Knowledge of animal welfare best practice;
• Must have the ability to work on their own initiative whilst also working as part of a team;
• IT Skills essential
