Overview

Dunbia are one of Europe’s leading food processing companies. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has previous Team Leader experience. Reporting to the Despatch Shift Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that the department is run in accordance with all Safety and Compliance standards.  

This is a 4on-4off position covering a Days role from 6am-6pm.

£15.00 per hour, paid weekly

Responsibilities

The Team Leader provides effective support in running the Despatch team in accordance with company standards and procedures regarding Hygiene, Safety, Quality, Quantity and Cost.

 

The role will have responsibility for providing leadership, direction and support to Senior and General Operatives within the team.  Working closely with the Shift Manager, the Team Leader will have responsibility for the efficiency and effectiveness of the team as well as the teams output.

 

  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, managers and other departments, utilising these positive relationships to assist delivery of results through your team, and provide support towards the success of other teams.
  • To ensure effective communications with site management and production teams.
  • To carry out a team brief at the start of each shift with all team members, ensuring that KPIs are discussed and issues are resolved.
  • Responsible for department being ready to commence work at the start of the shift and run in accordance with SOP’s, including pre-start up checks and reporting any labour issues immediately to the Manager.
  • Plan, organise and manage labour resources to ensure the daily targets are met and there are no breaches to working time regulations.
  • Ensure that team members on the line take their allocated breaks at the appropriate time and return to work promptly and restart the process.
  • Ensure all equipment and working areas are cleaned to company hygiene standards prior to production and housekeeping rules are followed by the team adhering to “Clean As You Go” at all times.
  • Ensure that all employees on the line understand their role, responsibilities and the expectations of the management. Motivate team members.
  • Work collaboratively with HR to administer counselling, and support the investigation process when required.
  • Minimise absenteeism through encouraging a strong team ethos ensuring a high standard of day to day line management.
  • To manage stock levels order assembly to customer requirements and outload to achieve “on time and in full delivery” (OTIF) targets
  • To liaise and negotiate with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • To continually try to improve and develop department performance against KPI targets
  • To manage and deal with the day to day operation such as : picking products, recording despatch times, temperature, dates, quality of products, transport vehicles loading requirements and procedures, accuracy of documentations, labels, and dockets, staff rota, recording waste, etc.
  • Liaise with haulers to manage outload times to reduce congestion and achieve OTIF targets
  • Support in the completion of the closure of any issues / non conformances raised in internal audits in a timely and efficient way.

Qualifications

Essential Skills

Ability to speak and understand written and verbal English.

Comfortable working in cold temperatures, as well as ability to undertake occasional heavy lifting.

Competent in using computers and packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel

Can work under pressure, driven to achieve targets, result orientated

Self-motivated with the ability to positively lead, influence, coach and develop others
